1 G: Current Stage Assessment:

  • The first Gate is to find the issues, gaps, challenges and key decisions to be made, which includes but not limited to carrying out a review of any existing project based structures and high-level assessment of the current portfolio of projects.
  • The key stakeholders, shall be integral part of this assessment to identify goals and requirements of the PMO.
  • The assessment findings shall determine the desired future state.

2 G: Defining PMO:

  • Defining the PMO charter by outlining the roles and responsibilities along with the PMO Key competencies and capabilities to deliver and support services.
  • Develop PMO Roadmap to achieve key deliverables, which includes but not limited to the rollout scope document that describes the goals, approach, risk and constraints.
  • Key stakeholders shall be consulted to input key deliverables and develop actionable plans.

3 G: Developing PMO

  • Develop a prototype model which defines the project management processes and methodologies depending on the project and business scale.
  • Outlining success factors parameters along with key stakeholders to deploy the PMO pilots.
  • Approvals will be sought from the PMO steering committee for next level implementation.

4 G: PMO Implementation

  • Projects transition to PMO and planning till closeout shall be carried out as part of the current situational analysis.

5 G: PMO Continuous Improvement

  • PMO improves its operations by monitoring effectiveness and implementing corrective actions to existing services or include new services by the approval of PMO steering committee.
  • PMO Updates the charter as and when needed by approval of PMO steering committee.
  • PMO monitors the effectiveness of the organization to reliably deliver the projects as planned on time and within budget.
